by Lou Paget Bantam Doubleday Dell, 2000 Review by Susan K. Wingate on Apr 26th 2002
An
educational approach to teaching men how to provide sexual pleasure to the
women in their lives. Lou Paget
presents very explicit and informed concepts on sexual intimacy and approaching
the act of sex with expanded awareness.
As the author of the Bestselling book, How To Be A Great Lover, she
focuses this book for men, about women.
She has titled herself a sexpert, giving sexuality seminars to men and
women alike. She explains, the contents
of this book is based on listening, observing and hearing the feedback of
thousands of men and woman, sharing what works.
I found the book to be an easy read and although very
informative, it came across as somewhat redundant to other books very similar
in nature. The concept of open
communication, once again, being presented as the core foundation for sexual
intimacy. The techniques presented were
not new or surprising.
I was impressed with the thoroughness of her research in
STDs and other health related issues, the listing of resources for readers to
become more informed, and the impact these issues have on basic communication,
as well as sexual intimacy. I was also
impressed with the extensive listing of resources from condoms to toys, as a means
to heighten awareness through education of the ongoing need for protection
against unwanted, unplanned pregnancy and keeping the sex act healthy and fun.
Gaining the male perspective and candidness, in which their attitudes were
presented, was quite enjoyable.
Throughout the book there are boxes labeled Secret from
Lous Archives, that I found somewhat distracting in the overall presentation
of the book. However, there is no
question in my mind that this book can be a valuable asset to the novice
reader. The resources listed alone,
increases the credibility of the material.
I would recommend this book for young newly weds, young
adults and certainly anyone uninformed about the hows, what, when and where in
pursuing sexual relationships. How
to Give Her Absolute Pleasure would easily fit into a variety of categories
within a library or bookstore, such as, Self-help, Health and Sexuality and
Relationships.
