What is the Vickers Education Fund?
The Aroostook Education Fund was created in 1989 by AMHC’s founding Executive Director, Bob Vickers, and the fund was renamed, The Vickers Education Fund in memory of Mr. Vickers upon his passing in 1996. The purpose of the Fund is to invest in the people of Aroostook County and to assist AMHC employees in furthering their higher education and furthering their career at AMHC serving Aroostook County. Specifically, the scholarship provides funds to AMHC employees who live and work in Aroostook County, who are pursuing higher education and a career in the Social Work, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or Brain Injury treatment field.
The Fund offers one scholarship annually to an eligible AMHC employee in the amount of $6,000, payed $3,000 per semester directly to the college. Scholarship recipients are confirmed by AMHC’s Chief Executive Officer and the Facilities Board of Directors awards the grants to the selected AMHC employee.
Be a current AMHC employee.
Be a native of Aroostook County; or have lived continuously in Aroostook County for a minimum of ten years; or have an immediate family member who has lived continuously in Aroostook County for more than 10 years.
Candidates must remain employed at AMHC for at least 24 months after receiving a scholarship.
