Recovery Month: Health, Home, Purpose, and Community

AMHC is proud to join communities nationwide in recognizing National Recovery Month in September. This annual observance is a time to celebrate the power of recovery, highlight the importance of mental health and substance use disorder treatment, and honor those who have made the journey toward a healthier life.

Throughout the month, AMHC is committed to raising awareness and promoting education about substance use disorders and mental health services. We also take this opportunity to acknowledge the vital contributions of service providers and community members who advance evidence-based treatments and foster a strong, supportive recovery community.

“The primary goal of Recovery Month is to enhance public understanding of substance use disorders and to celebrate the successes of individuals in recovery,” said Ellen Bemis, CEO. “It also serves as a platform to promote education about treatment options, ensuring that individuals and families can access the resources they need to thrive.”

AMHC encourages the community to get involved in supporting those on their recovery journey. Here are some ways to make a difference:

  • Educate Yourself: Learn about addiction and its impact on individuals, families, and communities.

  • Participate in Events: Join local events, workshops, and activities that promote recovery and support those affected by substance use disorders.

  • Spread Awareness: Use your voice to raise awareness about the importance of recovery and the resources available to those in need.

For more information on substance use disorders and access to resources, visit ShareFactsSaveLives.org. This platform serves as a central hub for harm reduction strategies, prevention methods, treatment options, recovery support, and efforts to end the stigma associated with substance use disorders.

Recovery Month provides an opportunity for the community to come together and support one another and celebrate the possibilities that recovery brings. Together, we can make a difference.
