AMHC Welcomes Dr. Copeland to Presque Isle Office


AMHC is pleased to welcome Dr. Silvia Merida-Copeland to its team. Dr. Copeland will be providing psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults at AMHC’s Presque Isle Outpatient Office. She will be working collaboratively with other mental health providers in the area to provide comprehensive care for her patients.


“We are fortunate to have a child psychiatrist serving families in Presque Isle,” said Christy Daggett, AMHC CEO. “Dr. Copeland is well regarded by the community, and we are grateful to have her join the team at AMHC.”


Dr. Copeland joins a dedicated team of therapists and psychologists who work collaboratively to deliver compassionate, effective care. The Presque Isle office integrates in-person and telehealth services to ensure accessible, holistic support for clients across Aroostook County and beyond.


“I am excited to start at the Presque Isle Outpatient Office,” said Dr. Copeland. “I feel passionate about the work that I do and look forward to continuing it with AMHC.”


Dr. Copeland began her medical career at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala City, Guatemala, before completing a year of residency at Instituto Guatemalteco de Seguridad Social. She received her training in psychiatry and obtained her fellowship with the University of Illinois at Chicago.

In 2006, she moved to Aroostook County and has spent the past 19 years at Northern Light Health AR Gould.

AMHC: A Lighthouse for Adults in Crisis
AMHC’s Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit (ACSU) serves as a lighthouse for adults in behavioral health crisis, offering 24/7, short-term, voluntary support in a safe setting. Through therapy, staff guidance, and skill building, individuals regain stability, strengthen coping skills, and prepare to return home with a plan.
